Some of my readers...

Thanks to my most faithful readers, my daughter Katie, my cuz Mary Ann and Dan-Dan. Katie and Mary Ann are related to me and I guess Dan is because he plays drums and I play bass.

Anyway these folks either post here or email me about stuff I have written. Also if I know they are reading it I can't post anything bad about them. The rest of you folks that are peeping in and lurking, well I hope I don't embarrass us both.

Looks like the Gulf Coast hit by the hurricane needs some help. If you want to help, you can start with www.redcross.org although there are many other ways to be found.

What a day today...

New Orleans flooded. I am sick over the destruction and lives lost. My favorite city in the world. I have spent so many good times there with family and friends and now things might never be the same. I had an old picture from the last century I was going to post but I can't find it. Made with a real camera and not on my computer hard drive it shows Cathy, Rose and Katie in front of St Louis Catherdral. Rose and Katie might be four and five, Morgan is too little to make the trip and stayed home with Grandma and Mary is not born.

I learned something from leaving the little one home that trip. If you can't make it down Bourbon St. without getting down on your all fours you need to stay home. That advice works well for adults as well as children.

Did good in school, 105 on a pop test, bloodied in battle now boy. Also handed in a short paper written on my experience of sleeping in a patient gown. It was something we were assigned to do. The teacher told me before I left it was the funniest thing she had read. Just a little gonzo journalism as praticed by the late great Hunter S. Thompson. You are part of the event you report on.

160 miles a day back and forth to Kilgore. Got 18 miles to the gallon yesterday. Slowed speed 5 mph today and got 21. Gas jumped 17 cents today.

Prayers for Nancy and family on the other side of Lake Pontratrain, Angela, Tim and Jeremy who is headed for Iraq later this year.

Hope all is well with those in the path of Katrina.

A storm has to hit someone, but I am glad New Orleans, one of my favorite places, did not suffer the worst like was feared.

Yesterdays photos...

I started taking pictures yesterday when I ran across this fellow. He is a fine example of an East Texas blunt tailed cottonmouth water mocission.

I always do the wrong thing when it comes to a snake. At least according to my wife. She either gets on to me for messing with it or in this case she thought I should have killed it. I was going to, but it got away while I was switching camara for weapon. It is kind of bothersome think that I came across this fellow on my way to the outbuildings on our property. I have walked that path many times in the dark, barefooted in the 23 years I have lived here.

Here is another picture I took skiing at the lake yesterday. It's Cathy, turned around going backwards. The old gal is pretty fancy with that kneeboard!

Of course Mary, the only chicken we have left at home got to kneeboard. With a bunch of kids there is always the decesion to be made as to who goes first. Well now Mary gets to go first all the time.

Your prayers for my friend...

Found out today that one of our church choir members who had been cancer free for about a year has found she has some spots on her lungs.

I ask all you blog readers keep her and her family in mind.

Morgan is off to college...

Helped Morgan move his stuff to Stephen F. Austin State U. today. One more kid out of the house. It is now down to two adults on one child for the next four years till Mary graduates. I got a feeling that she is going to attend a college that is very far away.

That makes three out of six Wallaces at college this semester. Mo at SFA, me at Kilgore College in the PTA program and Rose in the Pharm Tech course at Brazosport Community college.

Ever heard the phrase "educated beyond their intelligence?"

Bathroom pictures

Not pictures of anyone in the bathroom, but pictures of the bathrooms. Over the past year we have remodeled both baths and the project officially ended today when I hauled a load of debris to the dump. Here is a picture of the old bathroom. Kind of a European old world style if you could make out the pictures on the wall.

Here is my bathroom. The small pictures and a wall hanging one the wall you can't see give it a Far East motif.

Now the two nicest rooms in the house are the bath rooms. The rest of the house has a sort of a funky New Orleans thing going on. Not a pee, puke, tee shirt shop daquri bar Bourbon St. thing, but a messy Garden District thing with crazy music that wants to make you groove floating in the air.

Random thoughts mostly...

Thanks to all how have call and emailed about the blog, glad you like it.

Sorry about the fact that you have to register to post, that was unforseen on my part, but I guess there aint no free lunch. Upside is that I have not receive any spam related to registering here, so looks like the coast is clear. If you would like email me with blog post as a subject line and I'll post for you.

Mary needed an article off the web about Columbia for school. Here is what a Goog;e search for Columbia brings http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=columbia

Something is not right about that, I want info, not shopping!

School good, got to learn some massage in class today. I'll try it on the wife, the feller I massaged in class sure liked it.

First day of school...

Went fine, no suprises. Mostly spent getting to know each other, the teachers, and the class that started last year. Might as well start a little reading tonight.

Worst thing so far:
I had to have some of those shorts my wife calls poo-poos. You know, like a little kid wears that has elastic in the waist band so you can pull it back and say "Got any poo-poo in there?"

I have to have them because apparently we examine each other in these classes and shorts must be so they can pull them so they can see your ass. I had to buy some of those mesh jock type shorts. I hate those kind of shorts. I never have been a jock.

Up side is, once school is out, I won't ever wear them again.

School starts tomorrow

I was laid off a job I had worked for 25 years in Feb. 2004. I became a college student at Angelina College that semester with the goal of being accepted to the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Kilgore College. I have reached that goal and begin the PTA program tomorrow.

I'll meet a bunch of people tomorrow that I will spend the next two years with. I'll drive about 180 miles everyday I go to school, which is four days a week this semester. I'm nervous but excited all at the same time.

It has been a busy 18 months since I lost my job. I have attend school, worked part time as a PT tech at the hospital ( I'll still work my weekends) and kept a pretty good balance. Hope I can keep it that way.

On another note kids did good at a TKD tournament this weekend. First sparring for Morgan, third sparring for Mary.

How do you spend a 100 degree day in Texas?

Catfishing.

I think the gobal warming thing is going to be allright. Caught these boys this afternoon between 3:30 and 6:30. It was hot at the lake. Course they bite year around, just more fun to fish for them when you can jump in and cool off.

Stored them in the freezer for fish frys this winter when it's too cold to go to the lake. Got about this many times five frozen.

That ply wood is not the bottom of my boat.

Get ready for some drumline pictures

My son Morgan, graduated last year after being co leader of the high school drumline.

This year my daughter Mary is a freshman on the drumline. This is a picture from band camp. She is the cymbal player.

Look for a lot more band pictures when football season starts.

may be I should have called this the don't have time blog

No time yet to work on the workings of this page. I'd like to make it real cool, but I suspect like many bloggers being cool might be hard to summon.

Email is in my profile.

The light is on.

How this blog got it's name

Check out the band GoGol Bordello. My wife is crazy about them. Until I figure out how to put a link over on the side bar of this page you will have to search them out.:
http://gogolbordello.com/

Buy some of their cds. They are about the revolution. They are how this blog got it's name.

Glad I won't be young again.

I'm Finished Now

I catch my 14 year old daughter at the computer doing a bad thing. No, not porn. She is chatting with someone from another country trying to explain the policies of the U.S. government. She is patriotic, supports the troops and all just does not agree with the way our overseas business is being conducted.

Now in this day and age of the Patrotic Act, Ashcroft, Rummy and Gonzales I figure they got my IP address under watch. I'm finished. Just as everything, school, work and so on was going so well.

So I might as well rat out this guy I saw at an anti war protest. It was in Austin, Austin Against the War was the event, took place back in March. I managed to snap his picture.

So please kids, fight the good fight, destruct property, rail against the dark, just do it with your own internet connection.

In case you have ever wondered...

Just a little web space where you can see what me and mine have been up to. I just know there are people everywhere that think what I do is really interesting. I think it is really interesting so life as I live it is bound to strike a similar chord in the hearts of others because we are all brothers and sisters under the skin.

Durn, that's some sensitive stuff.
