CrawFish!...

Morgan held a crawfish boil at his house in Bryan this weekend. 60# boiled up good and spicy. In the top photo Ali's dog Chanelle oversees the purging. They were good clean big dads.

next photo Morgan seasons.

Not many left.  Cathy holds up the only left overs. I also cooked 5-10 pounds of catfish, also all gone.

That's what I am talking about! Posted by Picasa

Free Haircuts...

Mary came by last Sunday and gave free hair cuts. This picture shows Cathy getting hers. What you don't see is me in line to be next.

You know how I had my cut? Business in front, party in back, you got that right. You know the difference in a good haircut and a band hair cut don't you? About 6 weeks...Posted by Picasa

Fat Cats...

I thought it was going to be a real busy day at work. You know how it is, prepare for the worst and it's not so bad? Well I was off by 3pm, heading out of the boat ramp cove by 4:15. Soon fishing we decided to quit at 6pm. We caught 20 fat cats. They are In shallow water, all under slip corks.

On the way home we kind of got hungry for a hamburger so instead of cleaning fish we stopped by an Ex WHMC co-worker's house and stocked his pond. It's not going to be a surprise or anything, he asked me to do this some time ago.

All you other ex WHMC co-workers, I'll soon be by to stock your ponds also.  Posted by Picasa

More Back Porch Band...

Mary and the Back Porch Band set up at the Expo Center Pavilion last evening for a Memorial Scholarship Benefit dance and dinner following a rodeo event. We need to recruit a band photographer to catch us in action. I know the tempos don't change much and the beat never gets to funky but we especially need some shots of the drummer when she is awake.   Posted by Picasa

Coraline Visited This Week...

...and you know what. I did not make a single picture. Been a busy week I guess. I got some kisses though.
Here's an old picture. She still looks the same, just a little taller.

Not My Daily Driver...

This past weekend me and Morgan had a chance to look around the Museum of the American G.I. It's located outside of Bryan. We just kind of stumbled on it. These tanks are all operational. They were having a raffle with the winner getting a tank ride. From what I understood this was like a re-enactors club and you could join and take a tanker training course.

The had even had some German army re-enactors with a little camp set up with vehicles of several types.   Bottom photo is Morgan with a German tank. Morgan is kind of in this kind of business right now with the company he works for. It was nice to check out the tanks with his engineers eye pointing out interesting details of manufacture.  Posted by Picasa

NJD...

That stands for New Job Day. I don't have many of those. In my adult life I have worked at one place 25 years, a second place 7 years and now I am employed at Oak Manor nursing home in Nacogdoches. I work for Choice Rehab, the company with the rehabilitation contract.

The fish picture? I just wanted to scare you into thinking I was hired by Cathy to hold her catfish up for pictures.   Posted by Picasa

A Visit to Morgan This Weekend...

In addition to a little house shopping with my son Morgan we managed to catch a "Blue Bonnets and Bluegrass" show. You know the Renaissance Festival?
This was kind of a hillbilly version of that with some re-enactors, a tank museum, bluegrass bands, Johnny Cash, Elvis and Roy Orbison imitators and all kinds of stuff.

Here's a few photos...

Catch MudbellyLive Next Week...

Not to mention pulling off this coming Sunday's Mass with Cathy in Indiana with family and Mary doubtful because she is out of town with the Zamoras there are plenty of chances to catch Mudbelly live in action this coming week.

Tuesday is with the StratKats for the regular LSSLC monthly dance.

Friday is open mic at the Standpipe. Usually gets started around 7:30.

Saturday is some kind of benefit roping event with the Back Porch Band at the Angelina Expo Center. If you haven't noticed Willie Nelson also plays the expo center next week. I was kind of excited about this and not because I am going to see Willie.  Actually in all my years of viewing live music in the great state of Texas I have never seen Willie so I figure I'll keep the record clean. I was excited to just be following him later in the week. That is until I found out Willie is playing inside the Expo and I am playing outside in one of the cow pens. Little bit of a let down but I do think that is where the food is being served so that will be ok. Playing out doors is also great when you use large closed back Fender amps like I do.

I would imagine that Willie has played in a cow pen also. He just can't remember when it was or the exact circumstances how came to be.   Posted by Picasa

Beatiful Day on the Lake...

Nice day on the lake with my buddy G. W. Top photo he's keeping the rod bent on some slipped corked cats in shallow water. Bottom photo shows that we can catch on fake baits if we have to.  Posted by Picasa

Back Porch Band Gig...

Friday night April 6th 8pm at the SPJST lodge. They say bring a covered dish or snack. The bass player gets hungry. The drummer probably does too.

At last week's gig somebody had a birthday party at one of the tables. Nice balloons and cake. When the band came off stage for a break I noticed some one set plates of cake on a table by the band stand. I ate like six pieces. I was really just showing the younger band members that in rock and roll, you take. I think by now we have all heard the expression if you can't always get what you want...

Got My Grandpa Name...

Photo from a couple of weeks ago at the St. Patrick's Festival Coraline, held by Dad reachs for a big pink cotton candy. I assume it is hers and not just random grabbing, harvesting of any food in reach as they stroll throught the church grounds on a spring day enjoying the fun.

I think Coraline has settled on my Grandpa name. When she was born many asked what will she call you? It was like I was supposed to pick. Well Coraline has picked. Seems I'm Pop-Pop. Cathy's Grandma name is still up for grabs. At the rate Coraline is talking we should know it any day.

Back Porch Band at the VFW...

The Back Porch Band played the Lufkin VFW last night. Great success. You know how we came up with the band name? Well basically as many people that can fit on a back porch get to be in the band.

Nice photo work by Mary's friend Brittney captures the bass payers hat. We all voted in a band meeting that everyone would have hats like this next gig. It will be our shtick. You know every band needs a big hollering bass player. Preferably shirt less. I did not take take my shirt off during this gig though because due to my highly developed critical thinking skills I discerned that if I started coming out of clothes there would not be a mad rush of other people doing the same so not like I could really be a leader of the pack so to speak.

Next Back Porch gig Lufkin SPJST Hall Friday night 7:30.   Posted by Picasa
