Dirty Fuzz on My Swing...
Ok here's a little looper goodie. It's about my most intense undertaking so far. Let me see if I can recount my rig and recording technique for you gear heads.
First I saved a canned drum track. Next I played a bass line on a Fender Squier Deluxe Strat. I doubled it on Fender P Bass. Then I played the chords on the Strat. All this is looped in Stereo through a 1984 Fender Champ II and a 1978 Fender Bassman. People ask me all the time what the answer is. It's always Fender.
Next and this next is a few days later, I did not do all this at one sitting. I added a snare drum part played with brushes on the piccolo snare that Pop bought at a garage sale. I then used the Strat and the 1968 Fender Bandmaster to play lead. The dirty guitar sound is a Boss Blues Driver and a Joyo Tuber screamer. Blues driver set pretty clean, the Tube Screamer dirty. Here is the result. It's recorded on my simple hand held Tascam. Click the text to hear:
There's some warts on the guitar playing. I am happy with how I build the drum track with a combination of canned sounds and some I played. My intention is to save this swing track and see how many different songs I can make out of it with different leads in different styles.
