Caught a Todd Snider Show in Chicago...
It was a big weekend of music in Chicago as we paid a visit to Katherine and Peter for this year's Riot Fest Concert. It was our second Riot Fest but before the first day of fest concerts we discovered that one of our favorites, singer songwriter Todd Snider was opening his fall tour in Chicago at Thalia Hall. This made us very happy as it was a great show and took some of the sting out of the small hall Jerry Lee Lewis show that we missed several years ago despite all the plugged in internet connections that are possible to make sure you know these things.
Thalia Hall is a great small venue. It was built in 1892 as a public gathering place for food and entertainment in the Pilsen neighborhood. It was closed in the 60s but reopened and renovated in 2013 with a resumption of original intentions. The interior is old theater style ornate and it's a sit down venue to see the show without a bad seat in the house.

If you don't know Todd I guess you could call it country music with some pretty funny monologues thrown in between the songs. He's a humorous guy and a keen observer of human nature. You might like Todd if to quote one of his songs you are not "throwing your line in the old mainstream."
You might find Todd putting out music under his on name, as Elmo Buzz, or with the band the Hardworking Americans. He also has a book but if you get the music it he kind of says the same thing in the book, just in prose.
