Hi Everyone...

Grandpa is busy. I'm going to get up a few blog posts just to help him out. I know he won't mind.

Grandpa Feeds...

Grandpa and Coraline eat the Jalapeno Special at El Jaripeo Restaurant.

Jaripeo is a Mexican rodeo bull riding event that dates from the 16th century. Originally the rider rode the bull to death. That was hard on the bull and the rider so in these kinder gentler times the rider merely stays on the bull as long as he can, which is kind of what we did to this dinner.

Easter Vigil Choir...

Here's a shot of the East Vigil Choir posing with Fathers Francis and Raymundo. These folks came together from various other groups to provide the music for Saturday's Vigil Mass. There were a couple of more sorry you got away before pictures. This photo was taken at midnight.

I took this photo across the church of prayers over the baptismal candidates standing at the font. I like it a lot, think it's one of the best photos I have taken lately.

Hope all had a happy Easter.

Fishing Lake Nacogdoches...

Texas Parks and Wildlife Web site rates Lake Nacogdoches cat fishing as fair. I'd say fairly good as on our first trip there we caught 10 channel cats with 5 of them weighing between 4 and 5 pounds each.

Here Cathy puckers up to give this big boy a kiss.
I got my line broke once.

All laid out on a table for cleaning. They made for some big fat fillets.

Lake Nac is well know as a trophy bass lake, we will see about the cat fishing if it hold up as the weather warms.

More Musoc at Pop Fest...

What are they all laughing about, I thought songs were supposed to be serious.

Grampa tells Coraline a tuba bed time story. She listens attentively, it's a sad and serious tale with multiple layers of moral teachings concerning good vs. evil, them that have nothing vs them that have all, Democrats vs Republicans and the terrible banjo/cowbell/accordions conspiracy.

Not My Boat...

First trip to the lake in a few weeks and we find a sunken boat near one of our spots. Arriving at the boat ramp this morning there was a couple of young guys being towed in. They had high centered on a stump and dipped water throwing them out. Lake is treacherous when low and the high winds lately look like they may have been the cause of this mishap. Fishing was slow but we kept our boat upright and caught just enough for a nice grilled catfish dinner.

Old New Orleans Photos Surface...

And it's not as bad as you might think. Not to change the subject, many may note the red barn type storage building sometimes in the back ground of photos made outside in the yard. Most think I live there. Not really but I was cleaning it out and (back on the subject) came on a treasure trove of old family photos made in the pre-digital days. First one to name these two characters wins a big screen.

Anyone familar here?

What about these guys?

The Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side...

On a bright spring day my neighbor's bull reaches across the fence into my yard to nibble fresh tender greenery. That's ok, nothing to lose or be hurt. Eat all you want big boy. He seemed to enjoy having his picture taken. Until the flash went off and startled him and he almost tore the fence down getting away.

Why do I always have to explain how these things happen to me when I am all by myself? I wasn't really by myself, I was with the neighbor's bull.

Congrats Again...

Don't look so surprised. Mary received an acceptance letter this weekend from the Stephen F. Austin State University nursing program. She is currently a second year student at SFA and the nursing program begins in the fall and runs two years.
